Install a Baby Seat Using ISOFIX Connectors

Installing a baby seat can be daunting and can be worse than putting flat pack furniture together. By choosing an ISOFIX car seat, you are choosing one of the safest ways for your child to travel in the car with added peace of mind.

ISOFIX is an internationally standardised car seat fitting system. It automatically locks your car seat – or car seat base – onto two metal clips (ISOFIX fixing points) between the vehicle seat of your car. ISOFIX has been a standard in most new cars from 2006.

For a quick and easy demonstration for setting up a baby seat in your Mazda using ISOFIX connectors, simply watch our Tips and Tricks video below.

How To Install a Baby Seat Using ISOFIX Connectors

  1. Firstly install the car seat protector.
  2. Place the baby seat in position and remove the headrest.
  3. Engage both ISOFIX connectors. Utilise the insertion guides if required.
  4. Attach the top tether clip to the anchorage behind the back of the seat. Pull the connectors to verify engagement.
  5. While pressing the child restraint into the vehicle seat pull on the ISOFIX adjuster strap until the tension indicator turns green.
  6. Repeat this process for the other side.
  7. Pull to remove slack and store the excess strap in the bag provided.
