R U OK DAY at Mount Gravatt Mazda: Checking In, One KitKat at a Time

On Thursday, 10th September marked R U OK DAY — Australia's national day of action reminds us all that a genuine conversation can change a life.

At MGM, we believe workplace wellbeing isn't just commemorated one day out of the year, but rather woven into how we look after our team and customers. So this R U OK? Day, we opted for a team walk-around with a simple mission: check in, hand out a sweet treat, and leave every team member with the tools to reach out if they, or someone they know might need support.

Team Walk-Around: KitKats + Conversations

Armed with a tray of KitKats and R U OK? Day help cards, some of our team members – Emily, Liam & Kate, moved through Sales, Service, Parts Admin & our Detailing teams to deliver a small treat wrapped in a bigger message: take a break, check in, and know where to turn.

"It's such a simple gesture, handing out a KitKat, but you can see how it lands differently with everyone. Making time to check-in with one another is something we aim to do daily here at MGM, it’s the kind of workplace culture that we aim to cultivate and grow.” – Rob, General Manager, Mount Gravatt Mazda

The help cards handed out alongside each KitKat included practical conversation starters and direct lines to Australia's leading mental health support services — because asking "are you OK?" is only the first step; knowing how to listen, and where to point someone next, matters just as much.

Why It Matters — Beyond Thursday, 10th September

R U OK? Day exists because most people don't verbalise when they're struggling. Often enough it's a colleague, a mate, or a familiar face who notices first. As a Brisbane Mazda dealership, MGM sees workplace wellbeing as an everyday responsibility and is something we keep front of mind every day amongst our team members and customer base.

Get Involved

Whether you're a customer stopping in for a service or part of the wider Mount Gravatt community, R U OK? Day is a reminder that everyone can play a part:

  • Ask the question
  • Listen without judjement
  • Encourage action: professional support or a trusted service
  • Check in again, days later
