Free Native Plants Brisbane

Are you an avid gardener or keen to become a green thumb? Be sure to take advantage of the Brisbane City Council free native plants program, which runs all year round. Simply take your rates to notice to a Council Library or customer centre and receive a voucher to redeem at a participating nursery.

Brisbane City Council’s Free Native Plants program offers a range of plants to enable the community to cultivate a greener and more sustainable Brisbane. The native species provided through the program will help grow our city’s urban forest and support wildlife.

The Free Native Plants program is open to residents and entities within the Brisbane Local Government area, including:

  • residential ratepayers
  • residential tenants
  • residential body corporates
  • schools
  • registered community groups
  • clubs on Council-leased land
  • official citizenship ceremonies.

The program does not provide free native plants for:

  • small or large-scale events
  • fetes
  • promotional programs
  • giveaways or on-selling activities
  • prizes
  • fundraising activities
  • commercial businesses
  • government departments.

Plants must be planted on private property and are not intended for planting on Council land or to be used for waterway revegetation.

Requests for plants applied for but not claimed by 30 June are unable to be honoured in the following financial year.

Our local participating nursery is:

Daly’s Native Plants (open Monday to Saturday) 57 Weedon Street West, Mansfield 07 3349 0807

Daly’s Native Plants provide free native plants under Brisbane City Council's Free Native Plants Program.

If you wish to claim your plants you will need to collect a Free Native Plants voucher prior to visiting the nursery.

To collect your 2 free native plants voucher, just present your paid rates notice from the current financial year at any Council Regional Business Centre, library or ward office.

Our two local libraries are:

  • Mt Gravatt Library
