Celebrating Women in the Automotive Industry

As it’s International Women’s Day, we’ve decided to celebrate all the women in the Automotive Industry. Today we applaud the influential women over history that made their mark, and those just starting out in the industry.

With less than 20% of the industry being female, the team at MGM strive to encourage greater equality and as a whole we ensure our working environments are inclusive and welcome diversity all in departments.

We provide strong mentors for all our staff to ensure that they are getting the support and knowledge to further their careers whilst establishing clear goals at the highest level. We invite more women to join the industry and more importantly the Mount Gravatt Mazda team.

Being a woman in the automotive industry has offered great successes for some of our team. Here we are giving you the opportunity to meet just a few of the integral women that are paving new paths for the future of the car industry.

Aishah, Caitlin and Ebony are all enjoying successful careers as New Car Sales Executives and we took five to sit and reflect on their careers in the industry so far:

Aishah

"I love being a Sales Exec at Mount Gravatt Mazda. It's rewarding looking after each and every person that comes through our doors. I get to meet people from all different walks of life and learn a lot about individual personalities. The owners and management team really take care of the staff at MGM and encourage us to challenge ourselves and ultimately make the most of each day.

Although it is known to be a male dominated industry, if you find the right company that supports female workers you'll find yourself equally respected and overall enjoying the job! When you love your job it doesn’t even feel like you're working! It's more like hanging with the family."

Caitlin

"I absolutely love being a member of the MGM sales team. Buying a new car is such an exciting experience for my guests and I love being a part of that and being able to capture those special moments.

For a lot of people, the purchase is a change of lifestyle and I love to make sure the new car suits each customer perfectly. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to meet different people and see new faces every day.

On the rare occasion being a female can be a challenge but for those who know me know that I am always up for a challenge. I have looked after many people whilst working for Mount Gravatt Mazda and I cannot wait to meet more new faces as they walk through our doors!"

Ebony

"What do I love about being a Sales Person? I honestly love helping people find the right car and seeing how much joy this experience can bring. Seeing the excitement on their face when we unveil their new car is by far my favourite part of my job.

I have been blessed to be a part of the MGM family for 3 years and in a male dominated industry, at first I struggled and didn’t think this was the right role for me. I persevered as i knew the rewards were far greater than the difficulties i had encountered. I face challenges on a daily basis. Some small, some large and some based mainly around my gender however, I haven’t let it stop me as times are constantly changing. My wonderful customers quickly learn how passionate I am in helping them and I hope to continue here at Mount Gravatt Mazda for many years to come and welcome more lovely customers into our family"
