Breast Cancer Awareness Month at MGM

Hero Image

In 2020, more than 19,807 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

October represented Australia’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month which provided MGM with an opportunity to focus on breast cancer and its impact on those affected by the disease in our community. As a part of our MGM Wellness Program, we supported the fight to raise money and awareness!

Bakers Delight - Pink Fun Buns

This year Bakers Delight celebrated 20 years of support for the National Breast Cancer Foundation - during this time they've raised more than $20 million to help brave Aussies and their families through their breast cancer journeys.

We joined the fight and treated our staff & customers to Pink Fun-Buns, where our local Mount Gravatt Bakers Delight generously donated 100% of the sale to Breast Cancer Network Australia.

Wear it pink!

On Friday 16th of October, MGM officially turned pink. We wore our pinkest outfits, donned our pink ribbons and our team took much delight in devouring AMAZING pinkalicous cupcakes donated by our friends from Flute Cafe Coorparoo.

Let’s Nail Breast Cancer 2020!

While previous years have encouraged women to paint their nails pink throughout the month of October, this year we shifted the focus to towards men sporting pink manicures. Our amazing gents in our service and parts department put their 'pinkies up' and proudly painted their nails pink.

A personal journey...

Our Dealer Principal, Julian Mason whose mum Carole was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018, described it as a cause close to his heart.

“Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia – with one in seven women and one in 675 men diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.”

“This year, nearly 20,000 Australians will be diagnosed with breast cancer including 167 men. At the moment nine percent of Australians diagnosed with breast cancer don’t survive five years,” he said.

“NBCF is working towards zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030 and MGM's support and awareness will help us on that journey.”
