Spanning 14 years, the acclaimed CX-5 is about to enter its third-generation, bringing with it advanced technology, unrivalled practicality and outstanding value for money for Australian families.
Since the nameplate’s inception in 2012, this family-focused SUV has been a revered nameplate for Mazda on the world stage, recently amassing five million global sales.
Locally, the numbers are just as impressive. CX-5 has become a household name, and since its debut, in excess of 325,000 CX-5s have called Australia home, while over 20,000 customers have owned more than one CX-5 – cementing the nameplate as one of Australia’s favourite SUVs.
Frequenting a podium position on the sales chart, the CX-5 has topped the Mazda Australia range for the last seven consecutive years, and is second only to the distinguished Mazda3 in overall local sales.
The exterior design unveils the next iteration of “KODO – Soul of Motion”, a concept brought to life on the first-generation of CX-5 introduced 14 years ago. Blending SUV utility with the elegance that is the foundation of Mazda’s Kodo design language, physics meets artistry. The Next-Gen CX-5 draws on the traditional Japanese woodworking technique of “Kigumi” – the art of wood joinery without metal fasteners – coming to life between the lower cladding and wheel arch.
The colour palette for the Next-Gen CX-5 is seven strong and debuts a brand-new colour for the brand – Navy Blue Mica. The remainder of the palette is comprised of metallic and mica paints only, featuring Rhodium White Metallic, Aero Grey Metallic, Polymetal Grey Metallic, Machine Grey Metallic, Jet Black Mica and of course, Australia’s favourite red – Soul Red Crystal Metallic.
CX-5 Touring customers are able swap the black Maztex trim for a black and white Maztex trim, while both GT SP and Akera customers can opt for a tan leather trim over the standard black leather. Both trim changes incur a $1,000 premium.
The Next-Gen CX-5 is expected to arrive into Australia in mid-2026, with customer deliveries commencing shortly after.
